Kelly RaeKhalisa Williams also known as Kelly Rae is 25 years of age , born in Gary Indiana. Khalisa has been involved in the arts since she was 6. Acting in school and church plays. singing in school and church choir. She was formally trained in acting, dancing, and singing from 8-15. She started writing books at age 8 and poetry soon after. She went on to study theater at UNCGreensboro, transferred to N.C. A&T University where she received her degree in creative writing. A true triple threat she has acted in indie films, local tv shows, did fashions shows, and was heavily involved in the art community. Kelly has started three community arts organizations in NC, Port City Progressive Artist, EBONY female empowerment at UNCG, and Poet.she female spoken word group in Greensboro. Kelly is a member of National Poetry Slam Inc, and travels to compete in National competitions in various US states. She graced over 10 newspapers, magazines, and radio stations this past year alone for her work with Poetshe and her performances & events in the GSO community. Her latest project is the recording of her poetry book, “I am Woman. Let me Speak”. Khalisa is the founder of the women performance and writers org called POET.SHE , writing meetings are held every Wednesdays at 5:30 the Greenbean coffee downtown where all female artists are welcome to attend. The group strives to increase the female presence in the spoken word community and to spotlight female poetic/artistic talent. Look for Kelly Rae collaborating with the Guilford County School System as a poetry/creative writing instructor, and the Greensboro Children’s Museum as a story telling and creative writing workshop leader.
