Through the Window at JFK
by Jim Gustafson
I see yellow
backhoe jaws
picking petunias
from concrete
grown in seams
and cracks
faces shaped
by the wind
forged teeth
slowly grip lift
pull and chew
purple petals
spitting stamens away
tossing a bouquet
in a wild dance
of the flower
spread out
in the music
of the jets
stream breeze
