Magpie
by Alexander Wortley
The omen sits,
its black, white, and
blue feathery hue.
On some earthy arm –
some shattered spine –
frozen scream calling out to
a nectarine sun.
Aiming for my metal heart,
it swoops, igniting
an instinct
to leave me here,
Skeletal, among my kin.
